  19. Following is the description of a problem I encounter when using the DPS PVR
  20. as a source for our edit controller (Deck Emulation Mode).
  21.  
  22. There is a delay between the edit controller sending "play" to the PVR
  23. and the PVR playing moving pictures.
  24. I determined (by recording to 20 numbered frames to tape) this delay to be
  25. 10 frames. To compensate for this delay, I entered a start delay of 10
  26. frames to our edit controllers VTR driver config file.

  28. On the first record to tape from the PVR after the adjustment all seemed OK.
  29. When I tried to record the same frames a second time the first frame of
  30. recording was held for 2 frames and the last frame was not recorded as the
  31. record time window is only 20 frames long.

  33. On subsequent tries I discovered that the first recorded frame 2 and the
  34. last recorded frame was held for 2 frames.
  35.  
  36. Is there any way of getting consistent frame accurate recording when using
  37. the PVR as an edit source. The edit controller is Matrox Studio.

  39. I am using 2 Seagate Barracuda drives (4Gb each). Does anyone Know if these
  40. drives do a T-Cal before accessing data ?

  42. Any help would be greatly appreciated ? Probably something simple !!!

  44. Apart from this hiccup the PVR is a solid product. If you can afford one,
  45. get it. If you can't sell your Grandmother.
